The results have been tabulated and the Top 20 All-Time Favorite 80's Movies of the Rewind Members are about to be revealed..
Let's start with some quick stats:

Since most of us have watched these movies numerous times, I'm just going to post the movie with a link to the Rewind movie page .. so please click the pic if you want to check out the Rewind movie page.
Obviously this is all in fun, so if you happen upon this thread in progress.. please share your thoughts on the results!
We're going to start with #20 and work our way to #1 .. prepare to be shocked.
But before we begin.. we should discuss a few movies that were just outside of the Top 20 and are getting their bubbles burst early:
Big Trouble In Little China Pretty In Pink The Shining Vacation Revenge of the Nerds
All are worthy choices that received multiple votes from Rewinders, but in the end they just fell short of the Top 20.

Speaking of "The Shining" .. it is thought to be the greatest horror flick ever by many, but it only had five people vote for on this poll. Still an awesomely creepy movie, but just outside the Top 20.

well, i knew from the get-go that my list was going to be a little out there. i am very surprised that KK isn't top ten.. but i didn't vote for it at all, so it's not a big deal to me haha... but i am very very shocked that lost boys is #1. another movie that didn't make it on my list!!

Wasn't Goonies #1 last time....funny how things change? because my new list was totally different from last time. I made my list, sent it to Valley, then I looked up the old thread and i'd written something to the effect of "no E.T and Say Anything?" and neither made my list this time.
So the one thing i've been thinking about is? how does one figure this out? does each movie when it rates higher on someones list get more points? or just in general how many votes it got? I want to know the technical stuff.

Muffy .. the way the poll worked was:
Your #1 movie was worth 20 points, your #2 movie was worth 19 points... etc.. with your #20 movie worth 1 point.
And I did the entire recap on a giant notepad .. but it was in no way as cool as what Ronnie sent me!
Also, you are correct.. "The Goonies" was the #1 movie last time.

Cheesed about PiP not making it. I think my vote for Empire is what kept it in the top 20! I knew my number 1 wouldn't be anywhere (never is). Problem is, almost every film from about 20-40 should really have deserved a place - but there was no room in the life-raft!
Can someone post the 'old' top 20 for comparison?

While there are many that are not on my list, I can't argue with there deservedness of being there, however I feel that there were a few that well don't deserve to be there. Please don't lynch me after this list:

I am sure after that little list my top 20 is going to be subject to severe scrutiny.
Interstingly enough, the only movie I have not seen from the top20 list is Night of The Creeps so I can't comment on that one.

The list is surprising to me...the first part is very boy friendly, imo, but overall, it's good! Didn't see Lost Boys coming in at #1. Corey Haim would be proud !

A few folks mentioned the Rewind Poll from 2005, so I thought it might be interesting to post it. It isn't apples to apples because it was a Top 15 versus a Top 20 this time around.. but I'm actually amazed that 11 of the 15 movies from 2005 are in the Top 20 for 2011. And of those 11 .. it appears 9 of them are in the top 10. So with a very different group.. the list of top movies stayed quite similar.

I voted for RAD too.. but we just didn't have enough folks on our RAD team for this poll. RAD was #11 on my top 20. I tried to get Christian Hollis to vote, but I over-rotated on the landing.

You wore your tshirt!! A true fan of the film, awsome Valley, AWSOME!! On the over rotation - you know you just need to let your head lead and your body will naturally follow. One of the best scenes in the movie

See, there are probably many movies that us Aussies have not seen or heard of that the Americans have and vice versa. Cos, as you know while the Aussie film industry is not that big it has produced some fine films over the years. Malcolm comes to mind off the top of my head.

Just realised something, and it'd be cool to see if anyone else thinks the same.....
I just sketched out a top 20 without referring to the list I sent in, and it's very different. Some movies are there that didn't even make the first list (Secret of my Success, The Sure Thing, Streets Of Fire) whilst others I voted pretty highly didn't even figure this time (like Real Genius, No Way Out) and Fish Called Wanda kinda dropped off by default.
Wonder what difference people's moods make to which movies they think are great - or are some movies just great at that point in time....

Yep, we have some real fun things going on here, I loved the "Ralph Macchio heavy" line, oddly I was thinking the same thing. Seriously. Not that I picked the best of the best movies, but Crossroads (both the Macchio and Spears versions) isn't great cinema to me.

As I understand, 20th Century Fox completely retooled the film over the objections of director William Richert. (I think Richert had the misfortune of studio interference on every one of his films.) You added a bias to your selection! If you'd gone ahead and chosen the movies from the 80's you truly loved the most, it would have had an impact. 'Empire' was my # 2. If you'd picked it as # 1 it would have been higher than the paltry # 17 it got! You denied it 20 points! I knew nobody else would pick Tootsie when I chose it as my # 1 - but that didn't stop me! Numero uno. It's not that it means more to me than many of the other films on the list, it's just that I always name it as my fave, and unlike some people (JK - I'm looking at you!) I didn't want to tailor it strictly to conventional 80's tastes (though I think there was some of that happening subconsciously. I am a hypocrite, aren't I? Helen - exactly like a young Mickey Rourke - honest).
