Some critics argued that the movie was just a gender-reversed version of the previous hit Pretty in Pink. However, as the ending to Pretty In Pink was changed after poor audience reviews, it's entirely possible that Some Kind Of Wonderful was far closer to Hughes' vision than his earlier movie.

Elias Koteas also played the famous role as Hockey vigilante Casey Jones in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (1990).

Hardy Jenns and some of his band of pampered peers make an unexpected brief first appearance in the movie as Keith gets out of the car driven by Watts and at once faces the villian of the movie.

Eric Stoltz was the original Marty McFly in the film "Back To The Future". However, the film's Director allegedly worried after the first few days of shooting that Stoltz could not carry the humor he wanted. Although Michael J Fox was busy still with Family Ties, he was allowed to film BTTF in the evening after the show's shooting finished. Incidentally, Eric Stoltz also played Rocky Dennis alongside Cher in the film "Mask".

The actress that plays Keith's youngest sister is Candace Cameron, real-life sister of Kirk Cameron and star of "Full House."

The older sister, played by Maddie Corman, has a cameo in John Favreau's "Swingers" at the very end. She's plays the woman whom Vince Vaughn's character thinks is making eyes at him, when in fact she's playing with her baby. She also plays a feminist in "PCU."
