The scene where Hillary and Nick go into the Swedish bookstore was staged, shot and then run backwards to make the dialogue sound "unique." If you record the scene and play it backwards, you will find all of the dialogue to be exactly what is shown in the subtitles except for the title of the book Hillary asks for. The title she actually asks for is "Europe On 5 Quaaludes A Day."

In Dr. Flammond's laboratory, the sound effects heard in the background are taken directly from Man in the White Suit, The (1951), which also featured Michael Gough.

There's a scene where Dr. Flamont tells Nick that the energy in one apple could blow up a city... but as of yet they have not been able to create an apple. After some more conversation, some scientist assistants run in and say "We've done it! We've created an apple!" Dr. Flamont takes the apple and says "Nevermind that now", and tosses it out the window, where it explodes.
