This is a real shock: I just read that actor Bill Paxton recently passed away:

https://www.yahoo.com/celebrity/emmy-winning-actor-bill-paxton-153013951.html

The film Aliens (1986) is one of my top five all-time favorite films; and, BP's role as Private Hudson is one of the most iconic roles in film. I remember I & some friends trying to get into the theater to see Aliens back in Summer '86, but since we were under 17 they wouldn't let us in. I saw the film a while later on VHS tape, and was extremely impressed - it's one of those rare sequels that's actually better than the original.

BP also starred in Twister, the HBO series Big Love, and had a bit role in the original Terminator (1984) among many other roles.

Another one that I didn't believe was real until doing some more digging online. Very sad news. I really enjoyed him in movies like Weird Science (of course), Aliens, Predator 2, Tombstone, Frailty, Apollo 13....the list goes on. He was a great actor/director. R.I.P. [Frown]

I remember when I was in school going through my Radley Metzger phase. This small over-the-air pay service in Philadelphia showed his films in the wee hours. He was a very interesting filmmaker with quite a bit of talent. His films always looked great. He actually directed a mainstream film later in his career, a remake of The Cat and the Canary, but his work outside of erotica was rare. RIP.

At least he lived long enough for his movies to have found a new appreciative audience in the digital age.

Still sad to see him go though..

It is sad to see him go. His films were associated with a certain time in my life, and I really liked them. It's nice to see guys like Metzger and Joe Sarno, filmmakers who deserve wider recognition, getting a broader cult following.

There's some more bad news here..

 -

Tomás Milian

Cuban born veteran actor, star of many Italian westerns and poliziotteschi, passed away after suffering a stroke.

There are so many of his movies that come to mind that i want to mention, but.. well, i'm just sad right now.
For some reason the news of his passing hit hard with me personally.

 -

Tomás Milian was 84

I heard. What a Fantastic actor! He was so memorable in so many films. My favorites have to be Face to Face with Gian Maria Volonte, a brilliant western, and Keoma, another great Western.

Don Rickles wasn't a complete shocker, but it did seem like he would live forever. Last I saw him was I think late last year on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Heard he was a kind man offstage.
