Tatum O'Neal and Kristy McNichol were in catfights with each other quite often (though I'd like to believe it wasn't always). Nevertheless, not only was I asked (as a 14 year old 'newbie' to the film biz) to stay around and toss some frisbees with Kristy in an effort to provide some diversion, fun and normalcy, I was then hired to act as her double and show up at public events in the South for the movie's promotion! 23 years later, check out www.wrenovation.com and see what happened next.
It was Tatum O'Neal who taught Kristy McNichol to smoke for the role in Little Darlings.
They stayed in Madison, Georgia while filming at the then Holiday Inn. Kristy McNichols was asked to leave McDonald's because she entered the restaurant on her skateboard!
Students from local private schools, including Rutledge Academy, were the "campers" in the food fight scene. A local student from Rutledge Academy, Stacy Smith, was Kristy's double.
When movies are made, scenes are often
left on the cutting room floor.
I was an extra in the film. We spent half a day filming a scene where Kristy (Angel) disembarks the bus upon arrival with a cigarette in her mouth.
The camp counselor checks her name off the list. Then removes the cigarette from Kristy's mouth, tossed it on the ground, and stomps it out. Kristy then pulled out another one and lights it.
I loved that scene. It never made it into the final version.
Sometimes, there will be several versions
of a movie floating about on cable, tv or video etc. Other times, a Director may
release a special cut of the movie.

Also in the T.V. version - After Angel and Randy meet at the boathouse the first time and she angers him, she rows back to camp. On the way, she runs into Ferris, who is also out on the lake. A storm comes up and Ferris' boat tips over. Angel saves her from drowning. Later, the two are shown washing dishes as punishment for being out after curfew.
