Buckaroo Banzai screenwriter Max Rauch's original 30-page treatment was entitled, "Find the Jetcar, Said the President - A Buckaroo Banzai Thriller". Another early draft was entitled, "The Strange Case of Mr. Cigars", about a huge robot and a box of Hitler's cigars.

And the 60-page treatment they shopped around to studios was entitled "Lepers from Saturn".

If you look closely at the "Overthruster" used in Buckaroo's rocket car, you will see it is actually the same blinking & flashing prop used as the 'Flux Capacitor' in the Delorean from "Back to the Future". "Back to the Future" was made after this film, so you have to wonder if anyone consciously thought that recycling the piece wouldn't matter much, since not many people saw "Buckaroo Banzai".
Deleted Scenes
When movies are made, scenes are often left on the cutting room floor.
Alternate Versions
Sometimes, there will be several versions of a movie floating about on cable, tv or video etc. Other times, a Director may release a special cut of the movie.
