Tokyo Pop Locations
Under their watchful eye, the following special places were used for filming "Tokyo Pop":
When Wendy writes that she is going to Japan, she is by the fountain at Washington Square Park in in Greenwich Village, New York [Thanks to Fran]
The majority of Tokyo Pop was shot in and around west Tokyo; Shinjuku, Harajuku, and Shibuya all have prominent features in the film. The station Wendy finds herself lost in (and missing trains in) is Shinjuku Station. She works at a hostess club in Kabuki-chou. Mickey's House was a real gaijin house in the 80's and 90's in Kami-Itabashi. Shinjuku Loft is a real livehouse in Kabuki-chou.
The street parade (everyone dancing) is hotoken, or the "pedestrian paradise" in Harajuku Sundays. It has since been closed off, but there are still costume players at Harajuku station every Sunday. FRUiTS magazine contains more details about the location. [Thanks to Em]
Can you help? Do you know any of the Tokyo, Japan filming locations used for Tokyo Pop? Please Update Us
Locations LinksIf you know of a good link for Tokyo Pop locations, please let us know.
LX is our radical new locations feature that we've been beavering away on.. For years!
Each location will have it's own page with then/now pictures, maps, StreetView, discovery story and the most detailed explanations on how the location was used. Most importantly, the locations will have a status that shows whether they are verified correct and by whom. We are working with the actual locations managers or other crew where possible. The whole thing will be very interactive and you will, of course, be able to update everything.
