At the beginning of the movie, you see a close-up of flowers on a green field and then the tanks roll over them. This resembles James Cameron's style (see also "The Terminator" (1984).

The actor Fisher Stevens was actually born Steven Fisher. He was the only (human) actor to reprise his role in "Short Circuit 2", and today is better known for playing Chuck Fishman in the 90's CBS drama "Early Edition".

According to Wikipedia, Pixar writer-director Andrew Stanton claims he saw "Short-Circuit" once, and may have been 'subconsciously influenced' by Number 5 to create a certain character. Come on, Andy! With the tank treads, the wild arms, and those faceless eyes which hold such depth and emotion, Number 5 was obviously the biggest influence on the appearance of "WALL*E"!

This is one in a series of films with G.W. Bailey typecast as a egotistical cop/security guard/military officer ("Police Academy 1, 4,5,6,7, Mannequin, etc.) Prior to his movie career, Bailey was well-known as the redneck motor pooler Sergeant Luther Rizzo on the sitcom M*A*S*H.
