Kathleen Turner said of the role: "After 'Body Heat' I got a lot of offers but none of the films were good enough. I wanted this part because it's a comedy and because the character was so outrageous. I thought if I was very brave I could do some extraordinary things with it. It wasn' t a run-of-the mill, token female role."

One actor that had a bit part in this film was James Cromwell. In this movie he plays the owner of a cottage that Steve Martin's character rented in order to hide his new lady brain. Check out his clothes in his brief scene, looks kind of silly. He was the farmer in 'Babe' and also appeared on TV in Barney Miller.
