In a scene where
John Stockwell's character is under his car fixing it, Fisher Stevens says to him: "Once I saw a film about a car that killed people" referring to John Carpenter's Christine (1983) in which Stockwell co-starred with Keith Gordon. He is also to be seen as 'Cougar' in the opening scenes of "
Top Gun"

The title song My Science Project for the movie is performed by the rock group The Tubes. I think they even did one other song in the movie.

This was the first Disney funded film to feature the 'F' word, (as spoken by Fisher Stevens'). It has now been therefore cut from all available versions.

Towards the end of the movie when three students enter the school to save it they are walking through smoke filled halls. During this time they come upon a crashed plane in the Jungle (in Vietnam) and several "Viet Cong" come through the door and capture the pilot. The aircraft appears to be an A-4 Skyhawk. The Squadron Insignia seen under the cockpit is that of the VA-155 Silver Foxes and the phrase on the banner next to it is "Death From Above".
For historical accuracy purposes this aircraft has "Tigers Teeth" on it and I know of no aircraft ever flown by the Silver Foxes that had this paint scheme. Also the A-4 was flown fairly early in the war and all the Vietnamese are carrying the M-16. At this time that surely would not have been the standard for a Viet Cong.
I also always wondered why the pilot took off running after they knocked out all the Viet Cong? Surely not the teaching of survival & evasion school!
