Trivia, fun facts and more for the 1982 Romantic Comedy movie starring Kristy McNichol, Christopher Atkins, Ted Hamilton et al.
Note that people from the carnival appear in Mabel's fantasy -the crew of girls are her sisters in the dream, the ice cream man is the Major General, etc.
Chris Atkins married an Australian girl and returned to make the film "Exchange Lifeguards".

Christopher Atkins actually has staight hair, it was permed in the movie. Oh and Kristy McNicole is wearing extensions.
Christopher Atkinson didn't sing his parts in "The Pirate Movie". Trevor Farrant, who also co-wrote the script, sang his lines for him. You can hear it too!
Kristy McNichol has a beautiful singing voice and needed little help for her singing parts. She also sang with Dennis Quaid in "The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia".
Christopher's future wife was Playmate of the Year in Australia the year they were shooting the Pirate Movie; however, he did not officially meet her until he returned to Australia four years later to shoot another movie.
Christopher Atkins still has the pants and boots from his costume.

The alternate title to the movie 'Exchange Lifeguards', which Christopher Atkins appeared in is 'Wet and Wild Summer'. He appeared alongside Aussie actor Julian McMahon, who is best known for his roles as Ben in the Aussie soap Home and Away, Cole Turner in the WB's Charmed and Dr. Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck.

In the Pirate Fair scene one of the women you see wearing a swimsuit is none other than Rhonda Burchmore, who has gone on to have a career on the stage.
