The control panel rigged in the Statue of Liberty is in fact a NES Advantage joystick. This was an add-on joystick for Nintendo's NES game console, which dominated the videogame market in the 80's. Later on the actual film, we actually hear Lenny talking to the New York officials saying "I am NOT going to go down in history as the man who let New York get sucked down into the 10th level of Hell! Now we need help, alright? Now where are the Ghostbusters?"!
