The newspaper headlines seen in the "Ghost Fever Grips New York" montage from "Ghostbusters" (1984) are visible on the walls of Peter's apartment.

Ivan Reitman's children, Jason and Catherine, both appear in the film (as they do in many of his films from the late 1980s to present). Jason is the kid at the birthday party who says to Ray, "My Dad says you're full of crap." Catherine is the girl Egon was conducting the affection test on. Jason was recently nominated for a Oscar as the director of the 2007 movie, Juno.

In the scene where the Titanic arrives in New York, the harbourmaster is none other than Cheech Marin of Cheech and Chong fame. It is he who utters the line: "Better late than never."

The control panel rigged in the Statue of Liberty is in fact a NES Advantage joystick. This was an add-on joystick for Nintendo's NES game console, which dominated the videogame market in the 80's. A brief, but clear shot of the joystick is shown just after the Ghostbusters have finished bringing the statue to life.

An episode of the films' spin-off cartoon series, "The Real Ghostbusters" features a storyline that continues "GB II", and can be found on the new edition of the 2-pack of Ghostbusters films.

Star Bill Murray told "Entertainment Weekly" magazine he was ultimately dissatisfied with"GB II", saying "It was a whole lot of slime, and not much of us".

Harold Ramis (Egon) did not act in a major role after this film, although his appearing in a possible GhostBusters 3 was not ruled out. However, Ramis was a successful director in the 1990's and 2000's, starting with guiding fellow GB Bill Murray through 1993's "Groundhog Day".

His other directorial highlights include "Analyze This"(1999) and "The Ice Harvest"(2005) and "Year One"(2009).

Craig kindly wrote in to say that the he since played, of course, Dr. Betz (sp?) in "As Good as it Gets", the private doctor Jack Nicholson's character hires for Helen Hunt so that her son will be healthier and she can return to work.

Sadly, since this was originally posted, Harold Ramis passed away in the spring of 2014. Bill Murray paid tribute to him at that year's Academy Awards ceremony.
Director Ivan Reitman features uncredited as a Man Walking Outside Firehouse and again provides the voice of Slimer.

During the huge "Jell-O Mold" slime scene at the outside of the museum, a scene that was cut but was included in the theatrical trailer involved Ray talking to Lenny, the Mayor saying "If we don't do something by midnight, you will go down in history as the man who let New York get sucked down into the 10th level of Hell!". Later on the actual film, we actually hear Lenny talking to the New York officials saying "I am NOT going to go down in history as the man who let New York get sucked down into the 10th level of Hell! Now we need help, alright? Now where are the Ghostbusters?"!

Once Louis Tully had become a Ghostbuster in Ghostbusters II, the cartoon show, The Real Ghostbusters, added an animated version of Louis on the show and had him working for the Ghostbusters.

Ben Stein ("Win Ben Stein's Money", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off") has a brief cameo as a public works official! Don't blink or you'll miss him!
