When Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd got together to make a movie, they hadn't planned to make a ghostbusters 2. They were going to make a movie with new characters and new things, just the same cast. Then they started to say how much fun it would be to do a ghostbusters 2, so the 2nd one was made!

The ending for this movie was allegedly totally improvised during filming. They had no idea how to end the movie, and it went into production before the script was even finished!

The final cut shows the portait of Viggo being destroyed by the team's proton streams, and in its place appears a Renaissance-style mural, portraying Egon, Peter, Ray, and Winston as Roman gods. A final farewell from Viggo, or a manifestation of all New York's positive energy? After watching the film, you decide.
