DePalma regular Dennis Franz's appearance is something of an homage to DePalma's early days where his efforts encompassed horror.
Early in the film, the main character is sitting next to a door in front of a wall of glass bricks. Sitting next to him, in an un-named extra part, is
Viggo Mortensen.

The lead character in the film, Jake Scully, is a struggling actor. In one scene a film producer asks him what work he has done in film, and the character mentions "I was in a Hart-to-Hart that was pretty good." The actor playing Jake Scully, Craig Wasson, *was* in a "Hart to Hart" episode titled "Hit Jennfier Hart" in 1979. He has also made TV guest appearances in The Bob Newhart Show, Tales from the Darkside, L.A. Law & The Practice.

One of Craig Wasson's first roles was as one of the "kids" in the Saturday morning "Wonder Woman" TV show during the 70's. He stole the show whenever he was on screen. I thought at the time that we'd see him again.
Craig Wasson's first movie was also the same first movie as Helen Hunt: 1976's ROLLERCOASTER. Helen Hunt plays George Segal's daughter, while Craig plays a hippie teen with a giant stuffed animal to both ride on the Revolution at Magic Mountain.

David Haskell (the acting coach) played Nick Hartley from 1985-1986 on the soap opera Santa Barbara and John/Judas in the film Godspell. There is another 'Santa Barbara' actor in the movie: Lane Davies, who played the character that directed Jake to a friend after Jake asked for a place to stay, and who was also sitting in the acting class. Davies played the part of Mason in Santa Barbara, a major part that was in the soap opera for years.

The UK video version has been cut to remove a sexual reference and has a shot of blood-covered breasts removed. However, the uncut version has been seen many times on UK pay TV (Sky).
'Body Double' is often cited as a direct rip-off of DePalma's favorite director Alfred Hitchcock's 'Vertigo', starring James Stewart and Kim Novak.
