The part where Prince
sings "Girls and Boys", you see him swing his jacket around and put it back on with style. In actual fact, this scene is played backwards and he is actually taking his coat off!

Apollonia Kotero was initially asked to play the role of Mary, but declined and it went to Kristin Scott Thomas.
This film was filmed in color but released in black and white.
Designer clothes for the film were designed by fashion designers Bonucci and Reminiscence.
Mary Lambert was the original director for the film. She was fired by Prince, due to creative differences. She went on to direct Pet Semetary 2 and Madonna's controversial music video for "Like a Prayer" where Madonna performed in front on burning crosses and made love to the statue of a saint in church.

In the sequence that begins with the song, "Love or Money," there's an aerial shot of a mosiac sidewalk. Said sidewalk can be found in Chateau Park in Nice, France. I stumbled across the actual street while backpacking through Europe in high school. I recognized, but couldn't place, the street and then the song started playing in my head. I still have pictures of myself posing in front of the octopus mosiac.

The Original name for Kirstin Scott-Thomas's character in the film was 'Alexa' (after the song 'ALEXA DE PARIS') but was later changed to Mary when it was decided the character should be English!!
When movies are made, scenes are often
left on the cutting room floor.
Sometimes, there will be several versions
of a movie floating about on cable, tv or video etc. Other times, a Director may
release a special cut of the movie.
