Terri B wrote in to say that Samantha Bakers house is located at 3022 Payne st Evanston, Illinois. And Terry Carden kindly wrote in to say "Just wanted to verify the address of Samatha Bakers house. My daughter and her family live in that house now. So it is still there. It's so neat to watch the movie and know which rooms the people are coming from. It is definitly different now. There is no carpet or wallpaper. Funny the kitchen cabinets are the same but have been painted. The dining room is the same. HUGE!!!!!"
The movie was filmed in Northbrook, Skokie, Evanston, Highland Park and Glencoe, IL.
The Church used was Glencoe Union Church, Park Street, Glencoe, IL
Jake Ryan's house is to be found at 1407 Waverly, Highland Park [Thanks to Alschra]
The exterior school scenes were filmed at the former Niles East High School in Skokie, Illinois (now Oakton Community College) on Niles Center Road 1/2 block north of Howard Street. The school was closed down well before the movie began filming, and was eventually torn down.
The school lunch line scene and cafeteria scenes were filmed inside Niles North High School, also in Skokie. I know this for a fact because I graduated from there in 1985. [Thanks to She]
The the gym interiors were from Niles East. I know this because I saw the set during filming. They also built some of the interiors of houses inside a different gym in Niles East. I grew up right across the street, my mom went to East (I went to West). [Thanks to Rick]
Some exterior school shots in the opening scenes of the movie were shot at New Trier High School (then known as New Trier East High School) in Winnetka, IL

John Hughes Movie Locations
LX is our radical new locations feature that we've been beavering away on.. For years!
Each location will have it's own page with then/now pictures, maps, StreetView, discovery story and the most detailed explanations on how the location was used. Most importantly, the locations will have a status that shows whether they are verified correct and by whom. We are working with the actual locations managers or other crew where possible. The whole thing will be very interactive and you will, of course, be able to update everything.
