With the Rewind, you can enjoy the thrill of time-travel by visiting the locations where they filmed the 1986 Action / Adventure movie starring Christopher Lambert, Roxanne Hart, Clancy Brown More Cast
Locations Manager(s): Nick Daubeny
Under their watchful eye, the following special places were used for filming "Highlander":
These scenes were actually shot at Eilean Donan Castle, located at Loch Duich in Dornie, LOCHALSH, Scotland.
In the scene where Nash/McCleod reveals his true nature to Brenda, he says he was "born in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel" Both of these are indeed real locations in Scotland, and popular sites for tourists. However, the castle actually used for the early scenes in the movie is Eilean Donan castle. [Thanks to Kell]
The final Kurgan Showdown location was atop the Silvercup Studios, 42-25 21st Street, Queens, NY (This studio was also used for the interiors). As is said in the movie, the wrestling/swordfight location was Madison Square Gardens in NY.
, it's clearly been filmed in a much smaller venue (probably the St. Paul Civic Center) and is an AWA (American Wrestling Association-which promoted in the midwest) show, not WWF (now WWE) which has had the exclusive MSG rights since its formation in the 60's.[Thanks to John Hebert]
The opening "wrestling" sequence, was SUPPOSED to take place in Madison Square Garden. However, it was in fact the Brendan Byrne Arena (now know as The Izod Center) which is part of the Meadowlands Sports Complex, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The site also houses The New Meadowlands Stadium (which is home to The New York Jets and Giants football teams) and The Meadowlands Raceway. The wrestling card that night was know as "Star Wars '85" held by the now defunct promotion know as Pro Wrestling USA. The match taking place was on February 24, 1985 between The Fabulous Freebirds -vs- Greg Gagne, Jim Brunzell, and The Tonga Kid. Chistopher Lambret is sitting in Section 104. I assure you that the information enclosed is all correct as I was sitting a few feet away from Mr. Lambert that evening. [Thanks to John Ferrugio]
