Wanna see the real life filming location used for Research Company Building in the movie? These scenes were actually shot at Burroughs Wellcome Pharmaceutical Corporation HQ, located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. [Google Map]


On Location

The research building is the Burroughs Wellcome Company located at 3030 East Cornwallis Road, Durham NC. Research Triangle Park is an industrial & research park in Durham NC. I was working as a pharmaceutical scientist at Burroughs Wellcome when Brainstorm was filmed there. We all figured the movie would get canceled when Natalie Wood died.

Another location in the movie is the Wright Brothers Memorial at Kitty Hawk NC, where the first powered air flight occurred in the USA. The movie makes it look like these two locations are near one another, but it's really a 4+hour drive apart.

Another location is on the top of the bell tower of Duke University Chapel located on the campus of Duke University in Durham NC.
