(1988) |
hild's Play (1988) directed by Tom Holland ("Fright Night") and written by Don Mancini is a horror classic, the start of the "Child's Play" Series..
It all starts as Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif) is a psychotic serial killer that gets mortally shot by a police officer , and to stay alive he transfers his soul into the body of a "Good Guy" doll named Chucky.
Little Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) wants a "Good Guy" doll for his birthday and the only way that his mother Karen Barclay (Catherine Hicks) can afford to buy the doll is to get it from a guy in a back alley...
After little Andy gets his doll he always wanted, his Aunt Maggie (Dinah Manoff) is murdered by Chucky -the insane doll with the dirty mouth. Andy, who is now accused of murder, tells his mom and the police that he didn't do it, Chucky did.
Chucky tries to kill everyone that hurt him when he was human, including the police officer Mike Norris (Chris Sarandon) that tries to solve the horrible mystery, Mom Karen Barclay and Andy the kid.
Charles (the serial killer) dosen't want to live inside the doll forever and the only way for him to get out is to transfer into the first human he revealed his true identity to.
Will Charles succeed in his mission to become human again or someone will stop him from achieving his goal...?
Watch this classic slasher for the answers and also for some great horror scenes, a clever script, good special effects and some dark humor.

| | | | Child's Play is a great horror flick, although the sequels of the movie were kinda lame. This movie has some great entertaining moments, inventive special effects (for that time), a clever dark humor and Brad Dourif plays his role as Chucky very well.
The movie's missing some killing sequences and the plot is kinda weak, but this is a slasher movie so you just need to watch the movie and not take it too seriously.
Child's Play will remain a horror classic of the 80's and Chucky is the murderous doll of that era.
