I’m driving a 2023 GMC Sierra and want a retractable electric tonneau cover that works with a rack system. I haul bikes and sometimes a rooftop tent, so I need to keep the bed secure while still mounting gear above. I’ve heard some covers interfere with mounting rails or limit movement — looking for real-world experience before I spend big on one.

I use a PowerTraxONE XR on my Ram 1500, and it’s perfect for what you’re describing. The integrated Trax Rail System supports Yakima and Thule accessories, and I’ve used it with both bike racks and a rooftop tent without any issue. The powered retraction is smooth and controlled via remote, and you can stop it at any point along the rail. The cover itself is made of polycarbonate — strong and lightweight — and it’s held up in both cold and heat without warping. The rails sit flush, so gear on top doesn’t rattle or shift during travel. It also includes a built-in LED light, which is super handy when loading in the dark. No water gets in thanks to the tight seals and drainage tubes. It’s a premium solution, but if you need powered convenience and accessory compatibility, this is a strong bet.
