I just read that he's having his tongue & voice box removed due to cancer...isn't that disgusting & tragic?

I would be horrified to have acquired a smoking-related illness, wouldn't you?

Yeah, I would be horrified, especially since I have never smoked a day in my life.

But for people that smoke, your chances of getting some form of smoked related cancer are 1 in 3 people.

That is very sad for him, I don't think he could be that old. He should have laid off the puff and stuff. Kind of ironic huh?

LOL...good one.

The article said he had been a heavy smoker & drinker...not surprised...according to IMDB he didn't make too many movies after his heyday, so perhaps he partied out of depression over his career.

I distinctly remember having a crush on him at around 10 and I was surprised that he was already like 15 or 16...he seemed like a kid to me.

Wow, bummer. Puf-n-stuf was my favorite kids show back in the early seventies. He had such a distinct british accent that always intrigued me as a kid.

Maybe Jack Klugman can offer him some hope...

I had a crush on him as a child too. A few years ago around Christmastime E! had a Krofft Brothers special and Jack Wild was on it and he looked like hell. I think he was about 50 at the time.. Because it was the busy holiday season I didnt get to see the whole show so I visited a fansite of his just to see what had happened to him.Apparently he had a very bad drinking problem and his heart even stopped a few times because of it...and because of that he was now a recovering alcoholic and had become religous. I didnt know about the throat cancer thing though...although I do sort of remember reading an interview with him where he admitted to smoking on the set of Puf N Stuff...and how old could he have been then: 13???

You know...as bad as this news is when I saw this topic I thought you were going to tell me he was dead....so its was better news than I had thought it would be. I also just remembered that I had read he was writing an autobiography.....
