Looks like they snuck another one by me. Did anyone happen to notice that Summer Camp Nightmare was released on DVD a few weeks ago? I just ran across the listing. Here's the hideous new cover art:

The bloody shoe was SLEEPAWAY CAMP

if this is the movie Im thinking of the chick on the cover with the knife is a lie! The movie Im thinking of was like a 80s version of LORD OF THE FLIES . Chuck Connors as a camp counselor, right? Right movie?

That's the one. And, yes, the cover art is a complete lie. Apparently the graphic artist hacks they hired to "design" that cover have never watched the film and didn't even bother to read the plot synopsis. That girl is not in the film and it's not a slasher flick. You're right, mama, it's a retelling of Lord of the Flies where the disgruntled campers take over the camp and try to run it "their way".

It actually started out as an almost cutesy movie and then something happens that really comes out of a left field and the whole thing goes totally ape ****! (I wont say what- but REALLY- I wasnt expecting it.) Its almost like they grafted too movies together . MEATBALLS turns into LORD OF THE FLIES!

I watched this with a friend who ended up not caring for it. Maybe I need to watch it alone to truly soak the whole thing up.

So - if you want a more HONEST idea of what the movie is about, Folks, ignore the psycho knife-wielding abbe on the top of the box and concentrate on the Hitler-esque kids on the bottom half of the box!

I think Meatballs meets Lord of the Flies is the perfect description, mama.
