Been catching up on some Old School movies I somehow missed in the 80s. this was one of em.

I thought I might need booze to enjoy this flick - but surprisingly i didnt drink a drop. i really had a pretty decent time watching it!

Now I think that it helps that I like a lot of people in it: Lea Thompson and Kelly Preston - right there we have '80s Lover Heaven, right?!

And theres an annoying little kid in it who is obsessed with STAR WARS and has a pet robot and he was so annoying but - guess what?- he's played by little Joaquin Phoenix! So as a nnoying as it is, it was cool to see little "Leaf" as a child!

Anyone else like this one?

I sure do remember that one! Yet another one of my favorites from childhood. It was the first movie that I remember "Leaf" Phoenix in, and another movie of his, Parenthood, came out a few years later.

I loved SpaceCamp when I was a kid, but I watched it again recently and found that it had dated badly. What an utterly preposterous story. Honestly, I think it would have worked much better if they just made it a straight teen flick and eliminated Max & Jinx the robot completely. The best part of the movie is the dynamic between Tate Donovan and Lea Thompson.

I think it would have been better without Max and Jinx myself, but I cans ee where they felt the need to pander to a young audience who might be bored otherwise.

That SPACE CAMP plus beer equals Arthur Happiness was a riot!

Tacky. Dated. Silly. I still like it.

It's an object lesson on how current events can kill a film stone dead.

I wonder if Arthur plus beer equals Space Camp? I'd like to think so.

They just re-released this very rare soundtrack by John Williams on CD. Already sold out but I'm selling a copy on ebay if anyone is interested:

Finally watched Space Camp.
It was a nice family adventure with a cool cast.

Directed by Harry Winer who has made only tv-episodes and tv-movies besides this one.
I love Kelly and Lea and it was great to see Larry B. Scott and Scott Coffey too.
I also like Tom Skerritt and Terry O'Quinn.

Damn that Jinx was a crazy robot [Cool]

The soundtrack is cool: John Williams score, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Joseph Williams (Toto singer) tunes.
Great stuff!

Eric Clapton - Forever Man

JOSEPH WİLLİAMS-DON'T LOOK BACK

JOSEPH WILLIAMS - Turn it up

Nothing cheesy about it. It's a stark warning of what could happen if a lonely boy genius who owns a highly intelligent robot should board a spaceship with a bunch of mixed teens for a simulation launch.

I found it all too real.

Just watched this movie again the other day and it still holds up as enjoyable for me. Heavy nostalgia definitely sets in from the get go seeing all those great 80's actors/actresses together in one movie at such young ages.

But overall, still a great 80's flick that the whole family can enjoy. Highly Recommended.
