I own this movie but I watch it sny time it's on tv. This has got to be on eof the funniest movies of the 80s. I love the judge and Chevy Chase's one-liners are the best, and Bill Murray's strange behavior always crack me up. Anybody eles love this film?

Yes, it was on today, I watched bits and pieces of it. I loved Rodney Dangerfield. My favorite part was when he's on the golf course and the caddy was complaining about how heavy his bag was. Then he tells him to stop complaing and that he had to haul 50lb. bags of ice up two flights when he was his age. Then he turns on the stereo in the golf bag and says "Let's Dance!" and cranks up Journey, while the other golfers go nuts.

I always catch pieces of it, but don't know if I ever watched it the whole way through.

I was sitting next to "Lacey Underall"...Cindy Morgan...when I was with Joanna at a Megafest event...and I talked to Cindy in the bathroom about working with Bill Murray...she still has a charity golf event she does every year, and Bill's one brother always participates in it with her.

She signed a picture for my husband for his old boss, of her and Chevy Chase, and they were holding golf clubs, and my husband's boss thought that was the coolest thing, cause he was a big golfer, and he hung it on the wall at work, and people would freak out over it...cause EVERYBODY knows Caddyshack.

Might be the best comedy of the 80's in my opinion. Ted Knight's performance in "Caddyshack" steals the movie. Dangerfield snags all of the one-liners, but it's the uptight snobby Judge that makes the movie. Great soundtrack and cute golfers...I mean gophers.

So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald. striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga gunga - gunga galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice. [Big Grin]

"Ty, what did yout shoot today?"
"Oh, I don't keep score."
"Then how do you measure yourself against other golfers?"
"By height."

The one liners just flow like water in this one, and everyone's at the top of their game, including Harold Ramis in the director's chair. And who can't love the Gopher (a.k.a "Chuck Rodent"), who could easily land a spot on the Lawrence Welk Show? Brilliant in every respect.

"It's in the hole!"

FWIW, "Caddyshack" was named by the American Film Institute as one of the 100 funniest movies of all time in their "100 Years...100 Laughs" list back in 2000. Also, the "Cinderella Story" dialogue was named by the AFI as one of the 100 greatest movie quotes of all time in their "100 Years...100 Movie Quotes" list.

Pretty cool, huh?

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

Maybe I should've yelled 2!

A couple of years ago I bought a 2 of the gophers from the movie that dance to "I'm alright....nobody worry 'bout me" that Kenny Loggins song....anyway I think they're cool yet pretty silly.

I think the movie works well because all of the layers and stories going on at once. It's pure comedic genius. They don't make comedies like this one anymore!
