I can't believe I never watched this movie ever. I loved it. It had an awesome cast in it. I loved the blonde ski guy when he kept calling Lane...Oscar Meyer, that was funny.

The mother was totally nuts, but it was funny to see "Winchester" from M*A*S*H in the role as the Dad, cause he was really good.

I loved the soundtrack.

Cindy...if you have it...you gotta hook me up with it, caused I loved both songs E.G. Daily performed.

"One Way Love" was great...

but:

" A Little Luck"....that was the 2nd song, and you can barely hear it playing in the background...but as soon as I heard it, I completely freaked...I know that song is in another movie....and I can't think what it is...cause I have never seen this movie ever...but I know that song some how, and I remember awhile back trying to find the name of it, I was writing down the words that I could remember. I would love to know the lyrics to that song...if anyone can find them...will they please post them on here.
I want that song really bad.

I finally get the $2.00 joke that Valley and Muffy were always doing...that was totally hysterical.

I LOVE the black camero that Lane has, that has to be one of the coolest cars ever. I love him racing those 2 Japanese guys..the one who talks like Howard Cosell...what cracks me up is that someone thought those things up..and put them in a movie, and it was funny...and it is like people lost their sense of humor because you don't see movies like that now.

I LOVED Amanda Wyss's clothes...I liked the teal green outfit she had on at the beginning..I loved that everything on her matched from her jeans and sweater to her ski jacket and her hat.

I liked Diane Franklin in this movie, I love how it ended...it didn't end like the Last American Virgin.

The thing I thought was the coolest thing ever was when they showed them skiing together...and the stunts they were doing, how they spun each other around in a circle on skies, and they would ski underneath each others legs.

And at the end the whole thing where Lane skied down the hill on one ski, somebody was an amazing skier for that movie, that was totally cool.

I definately want this movie. I would watch it again and again.

I think the whole obsession thing at the beginning is so funny...with all the pictures on his walls, and on his clothes hangers.

I liked when they meet and are rubbing their noses, and totally freaking out in their minds about what the other one is thinking, cause that is something everyone does.

It was so cute the whole way through it.

Those are exactly the kind of movies I wish they still made.
But, they never can.. because it is the cast of people who makes the movie...and I guess that is the part that scares me...is the people's time has passed and they aren't teens anymore, and you can't get a new cast of people and think you can get that same kind of chemistry.

I just liked how well the casts from so many 80's movies seemed to work so well together...it always looked like it would have been a blast to hang out with those people, and that they had fun doing those movies together.

I loved when he was surrounded by the gang of paperboys...that was great. Even in the last scene he was still coming after him, that kid managed to fall off a cliff and still wanted his $2!!! That was awesome skiing on a BMX bike.

I loved when they said :"There's something following them!!"

I was really surprised that this classic eluded you. There were so many great and goofy moments in this film, some of the cornballish humour reminded me a bit of Top Secret. Nothing better than a young and zany John Cusack in an 80's movie. There's so many quotes and one liners that it's hard to believe it was all in the same movie.

Love the fast food scene where he has to make hamburgers with the tyrant boss, and the animation shorts were cool as well.

I bought this on VHS and DVD, but I just wish there could be a special edition DVD for us diehards.

I hate to bump and old thread but I found a really good article and wanted to share it. Some of you may have already read it. This interview (from 2004) is with Dan Schneider (Ricky) and Director Savage Steve Holland. Since the dvd is barebones this is about all the behind the scenes info that is available. I find it interesting that John Cusack hates this movie. I don't share his sentiments. I love this movie. Enjoy.

Wow! Thanks, Booger! Better Off Dead is one of my all-time favorite movies. Knowing some of the inside dope makes some things even better. I think it's funny that the girl that screwed him up ended up in therapy over this movie! Plus I am now of the opinion that John Cusack has no sense of humor. Better Off Dead is the best thing he's ever done. He's even worse than Val Kilmer, who was brilliant in Real Genius and Top Secret. At least Val doesn't trash his early stuff.

What the hell was that all about?!?! I really like John Cusack but his attitude on this matter is totally rank! How ungrateful! Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer and Sixteen Candles were movies that made him who he is today! It was in these movies that people started to notice him and truly enjoy his performances. Okay, I'm about to go off on a tangent...bear with me.

You know, why is it so wrong to be funny and have a good time? Life is hard enough, everything doesn't have to be so damn serious all the time! I think people who need that seriousness, or want to act like they're above all the silly bull$hit, have a.) never experienced anything truly tough in their real lives and want to see what it's like or secondly.) have gone through some tough times in life and let it get the best of them. Either way, not too cool.

When you are able to turn it all off and have some fun, that says something to me. It says you can see the good part of being alive. Despite all the crap that comes our way, and believe me, I've had enough to fill up the Grand Canyon, I still want to laugh and be a total dork and have a good damn time. I guess I'm just absurd like that! John Cusack most likely wouldn't want to hang out with me.

It's really a shame that Cusack can't sit back and laugh at that movie. He was great at wacky comedy, much like Tom Hanks in his Bachelor Party days. Anyway, the article was real cool to read as I had so many uqestions about BOD. At the time, it reminded me a lot of Top Secret with the wacky humour in it.
