I love this movie...I love when she learns english in 1 day watching tv...it is so funny...right now Eugene Levy is unsuccessfully trying to get her wet....to prove she's a mermaid.

I thought John Candy was so funny in this movie too.

So many people had a coming out in this picture, including Ron Howard in his first big commercial success. I was fortunately enough to go by the lagoon in the Bahamas where some scenes were shot a few years ago. I love it when Madison gives her name in Mermaid language and destroys everything in the store. As usual, Candy steals the show; his character's highly remiscent of Johnny LaRue slightly toned down. And all the pain Levy suffers trying to prove his theories and later to reverse his errors--classic.

It would be amazing to me to see what other films that Candy and Levy could have been in togehter if Candy hadn't passed away at such a young age.

I loved them in Armed and Dangerous.

Oh yes, they made a brilliant team there. Especially the warehouse scene where Levy's being chased by the dogs and Candy bites them to make them back off! Or when they hide in the steamroom to avoid being seen and nearly kill themselves ("It's a good thing we didn't hide in the barbeque pit! Carlino would have had a sudden craving for ribs!").
