I just ordered this movie..I think it originally played on HBO a few years ago. It stars Uma Thurman and Julieete Lewis and takes place in the '80s. Did anyone see it?

It's very good...they have that whole Jersey-girl big-hair thing down very well...nothing like a good dysfunctional family drama.

It's certainly not your typical escapist 80s film. Mira Nair directed it. Uma Thurman and Juliette Lewis are fantastic, although Juliette's character is less fully realized. It's pretty wrenching to watch her as a clueless mom, but Uma Thurman's character ("Deb," I think?) makes for an even more harrowing character study.
