Is Costco big in America? The first store in Australia opened today about 3 hours from here and it was all over the news about it being a massive American chain, and the "extraordinary" fact that you can buy toilet paper and diamond rings in the one locations!

I've never heard of the need to "subscribe" to a real world store before. Do all Costco stores require this?

Costco is in Canada as well. You pay $50 a year to remain a member. The big draw is that you can buy lots of things in bulk, essentially getting things at a cheaper price.

We don't have a Costco near to where I live. We just have a Sam's Club, which works along the same principal. However, it's only $40/year to belong to Sam's.

it's big in my city.. there is a costco in every direction where i live. i also have a membership. i can get my son's formula there for way cheaper than in any grocery store. i buy a lot of things in bulk because there are just too many things we tend to use or foods we eat so it works for us to have more and in the long run..pay less.

I used to belong to COSTCO but then a BJs opened near my house.

I have never been to a SAMS club but they are another similar-themed one.
