So who are your favorites? 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's? I loved George Carlin. And Eddie Murphy's standup was good. My favorite right now is Lisa Lampanelli. She is supposed to come to Pittsburgh in Jan. but the tickets haven't gone on sale yet. I want to surprise the hubby with the tix and dinner. She is nuts!

I also enjoy prop comics like Carrot-top and Gallagher.

OMG- we went to see Carrot-top in Vegas about 3 years ago. He was at the MGM, which was great because that's where we were staying. He was so funny, I thought I was going to pee myself toward the end of his show cuz I'd drank 4 beers! Seriously, my mouth and my stomach hurt from laughing so hard for about an hour and fifteen min. Btw, we were right in front of the stage- I literally could have set my beer on the stage if I wanted to. And he didn't just do all props, he does do parts that are just regular stand-up. And of course, like most comedians, he made fun of some audience members. Like this one guy who was probably about 60 years old with a girl about 25. Carrottop asked what he was doing with her, and how much he paid to spend the evening with her, ha,ha.

I remember watching those Gallagher specials on cable at my friend's house when we were kids. I always felt sorry for the people that got spattered with the watermelons, etc. from the Sledgomatic!

Yeah, but when you go to a Gallagher show, you know what to expect. He was great back in the day.

In the 80's...when I was a travel agent...I met a guy who was a stand-up comedian...at the time he was living in Hollywood, Ca 1/2 the time, and in New York City the other 1/2. I booked him to come stay at the local college, for the entertainment. The entertainment coordinator called me, and said anything that he wanted.. for me to do it. Well, I ended up being able to book him to come for the college...and he got a trip to New York out of the same ticket, because it was cheaper for him to stay over night on a Saturday...then to fly back to California without a Saturday. I saved the college hundreds of dollars, and this guy was so happy that he got a free trip to New York...that he invited me to the college. He told me to bring my room mate. His name is Eddie Brill. He now books all the stand up comics on The Letterman Show...he's been doing that for over 10 years. He's been a guest comedian at least 8 times. He's my favorite comedian. He warms up the audience at Letterman...if you watch Letterman-you'll see him when Dave goes out in to the audience, Eddie is usually standing there beside Biff.
He came back the following year to the college, on my 21st birthday. He brought Jeff Garlin who was in Daddy Day Care, and he brought Lew Schneider-who was the executive producer of Everybody Loves Raymond. I had a blast that night. I took my mom, my room mate,and a guy friend, it was so cool.
I had become friends with the entertainment coordinator, and when I got to the college..she ran out to get me...to take me back in the green room...to be with Eddie...he is 6'4, and a big guy...he jumped up, and picked me up and whirled me around in a circle...it was so fun..the whole college sang me Happy Birthday.
I loved it.
Then I went to New York City..(the first time I ever flew anywhere)...and we went to Caroline's , Eddie was performing there...it was so awesome....we sat up front, he said my name in his routine. I got to meet John Mendosa. I got to talk to Colin Quinn on the phone.
Eddie use to call me on the phone in the 80s from all these comedy clubs...and I'd hear "Andrew Dice Clay" in the background. He opened for everyone from Roseanne to even Aretha Franklin-at Radio City Music Hall.
I love his comedy...because he never uses foul language. He has won the MAC award for best stand up comic for 3 years in a row.
Now, he's actually teaching comedy workshops.
He came to my hometown...when my son was 3 years old, and did a benefit to raise money for the local women's abuse shelter that my mom volunteered at, and they raised over $10,000. It was so much fun.
I know alot of stuff about comedians, through him. He use to be good friends with Bob Goldthwait , and Steven Wright. He's good friends now with Denis Leary, they just did a special together.
Eddie was in an 80s B movie called Stuck on You. I have no idea if anyone ever saw it or not. I have it. It is funny to see someone you know in a movie.
I use to really like comedy...but like everything else I don't watch any comedians...I get sick of hearing people make fun of everyone...or make fun of themselves....or talk like pigs. That stuff isn't funny to me.

Robin Williams and Dana Carvey are both hilarious! And everyone should know by now, I love Denis Leary! And if he makes someone upset with his comedy, pahleeeze! He just says what everyone else is thinking! I can't tell you how many times I've said something to my husband, and then hear Leary say it aloud later! I see that Eddie Brill has highjacked this thread- Has anyone ever heard of him?

Billy Connolly is recognised in Britain and Ireland as the greatest ever stand up comedian. He's my number one. Of American's I love Denis Leary(although he's Irish really) 80'S Eddie Murphy And the legend that was Richard Pryor!!

Jim Gaffigan makes me laugh so hard I can't breath. His most popular bit is his Hot Pockets.
I either hate or love Donnie Baker's skits. Either he is so funny, or so dumb. I like it! Plus he acts like the people I grew up around. haha

As of curent comedians I am not really in the know, but I really like Lewis Black. He's great at blowing a gasket kind of like Jerry Stiller used to do so well on Seinfeld.

I almost forgot to mention, this morning I got my tix for Lisa Lampanelli on Jan. 9th. She added another show because the original 2 shows on the 10th are either sold out or nearly sold out very quickly. I got good seats- 7 rows back in the center! I'm kinda glad we're not front row, center, cuz I know she'd be pickin' on my husband. It's hard to miss him- he's 6'4" and pretty thin with really long hair. I'm really psyched, I'll let ya all know how the show is. Oh, I also read that she does a meet and greet following every show. So if my husband doesn't mind waiting, I'd buy her cd and have her sign it and get a pic.

We went to see Lisa Lampanelli on Friday. She was great! I laughed so hard I got a headache! I thought my head was gonna blow right off from laughing so much! It was nonstop laughter for about an hour and 15 minutes. There was an opening comedienne, but she was just onstage for about 10 minutes. She was funny, but her voice got on my nerves after a while- she kinda sounded like the cheerleader in Fast Times at Ridgemont High at the pep rally. I think her name was Laura something. Sad to report, no pics or cd cuz my hubby didn't feel like waiting in that huuuuge line after the show for the meet-n-greet.
