Who do you like better between The Steve Miller Band and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers?

I have to go with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. I feel they were consistently better and that their catalogue of hits is much more impressive.

tom petty and the heartbreakers are my favorite out of the two,but got to give some luv to steve miller band.the joker is one of those classic songs that is still being played at every party these days and it is one of the funniest songs to play on guitar hero.

I Gotta go with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. My 1st Love & 1st Long term 2 year relationship looked exactly like the girl in the Free Falllin' Music Video!

while steve miller had some classic songs, tom had more and his longevity easily makes him the winner.

though i do love the space cowboy.

Tom Petty 100%. The only Steve Miller Band song I ever liked was The Joker and that's a personal thing...

Not surprised that Tom would be the winner of these two but never imagined it would be unanimous after 10 votes

Devolution here,

I agree, Tom Petty doesn't sound gimmicky like the Steve Miller Band.
