Does anybody remember this stupid song (stupid, yes, but I love it anyway) by DENISE LASALLE? They used to play it on the radio in the '80s as sort of a "novelty song". The funniest thing I remember is MY PARENTS used to get a kick out of it and sing along.

Forgot all about this song until just now. But I recall it being sung by Rockin' Sidney.

I can't seem to find a link to the Rockin' Sidney version of this song which I feel is more superior. It's done in more of a zydeco flavour.

Well now I have to look for the Rockin Sidney version....cuz I totally have only heard the version with a woman singing!

And, yes, Im aware the song is ca ca....but it brings back childhood memories. It was more of a "novelty song" like Chicken Dance, Their Coming To Take Me Away, Judy In Disguise.....
well, whatever. It's probably a terrible song but whenever I hear it I can STILL see my father in the kitchen making a ham sandwhich and singing it!

UPDATE: Okay, found the Rockin Sidney version and downloaded it. His version IS better! Musically at least. The Denise LaSalle version is cheesier, like anybody with a CASIO could make that music- hahaha- Rockin Sidney's music was a little "realer".

But the fact a MAN and a WOMAN both sang this song makes me wonder - whats a "toot toot" supposed to be anyway? Hahaha. When a woman was singing it I thought I knew what a toot toot was...but if Rockin Sidney has a toot toot too....

Hmmmmm?

Toot-toot (noun)

1. A small, brightly colored plastic or rubber model steam engine (usually modelled to around 1:12 scale) popular with small chldren or grownups who like to play with stuff in the bathtub without the risk of going blind like their parents said they would if they carried on....

2. A long, thin pipe with a small bowl, used for the inhalation of a variety of illegal narcotic substances, the effect of which is to make addicts believe they are superman, and therefore 'more powerful than a locomotive'...

3. A ***** (male) or a ****** (female)...

Their Coming To Take Me Away, is that the one with Napoleon XIV? Can any one tell me what year that song is from? It's old I think (70's-80's). They play it on the radio sometimes.

Wow, really? Cool :)I hope it's the one I'm thinking of, because I like it. I've heard it was old.

EDIT: I just found out the version I've heard "They're Coming To Take Me Away Again" is from 1988. Different from the earlier version they made "They're Coming To Take Me Away" from the 60's.
