The film marked the first time the character of Felix Leiter had appeared in a James Bond film since Roger Moore's first 007 outing Live and Let Die, actor John Terry was the sixth actor to portray 007's CIA colleague and he joined the company of previous Leiter's, Jack Lord, Cec Linder, Rick van Nutter, Norman Burton, and David Hedison.

Rhys-Davies was asked to return to the role of General Pushkin for the next entry "Licence to Kill". Upon being told that the part had really nothing to do with the story, the actor declined the offer.

Fortunately, for his next film project, John reprised the role of Sallah in "Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade"!
