Yes, the early 80ís were filled with mindless (albeit fun) horror films such Friday the 13th, Halloween/Mike Meyers movies and Freddie/Elm Street series, BUT this little gem somehow got lost in that mindless shuffle!

Perhaps this was because The Sender was a somewhat literate film and didnít rely a lot on blood spurting in your face and illicit teen sex to drive its narrative. At any rate, it is a great 80ís horror film thatís needs re-discovering, because this one just plain messes with your head, while at the same time TOTALLY creeping you out.

Quickly, what happens is a psychiatrist finds out in no uncertain terms that the nightmares of one of her John Doe patientís can kill. Mixed up in this problem is the patientís really freaky mother, who warns the doctor about her son. I just canít tell any more without starting to give things away, but if you liked SCANNERS go for The Sender, this film is spookier side of that whole psychokinetic thing.

Now, a warning: there's very little blood and guts in this flick, but I tell you the scares and suspense of the movie make up for that in spades!

Also, the ending now may seem a little predictable, but back in '82 it was fresh and I wouldnít be surprised to find out if some other writers hadnít seen this movie for some ďideasĒ. Anyway, try and track this one down. Itíll be worth it!

One of the creepiest and most suspenseful movies of the 80's, and one of the least seen or mentioned! (What a cryin' shame).

The script is strong as is the very believable acting. The effects are convincing. Solid direction.
None I can think of, except for some it may not have enough gore or violent action.
