Update
At first, Roy Orbison rejected Lynch's request to use his song "In Dreams" in the brothel scene but Lynch found a way to use the song legally anyway. Orbison didn't know about this till he saw the film in the theater. He eventually made a music video for the song that was produced by Lynch & used footage from the film.
