Wanna see the real life filming location used for The "Starlite, Starbrite" trailer park and general store. in the movie?

These scenes were actually shot at An abandoned trailer park and small rural store called "Rio", located in Canyon Country, S. California. Google Map

Craig kindly wrote in to say that the trailer park resturant/general store where many scenes of the movie took place is still standing. It is a small rural store called "Rio," located at 9411 Soledad Canyon Road, Acton, CA 91390. The place behind the store where "The Last Starfighter" video game stood is still recognizable but the small trailer park is gone... It is now mostly a storage lot, but the path leading down to it is still there as well as the steps that lead up to the rear of the store from the park.

Frank Munoz kindly wrote in to add that if you look it up on google street maps, you can also activate the street view by zooming in, then place your cursor over the orange man shaped icon above the zoom in scale, right click and drag the icon to the Soledad Canyon road. Pan around if necessary to view the east side of the road. Then you will be able to see the current condition of the General store, the now gated driveway where the trailer park once existed, and propane tank in the parking lot next to the General store. The storefront has had a facelift with a mansard roof façade and front porch. I peeked over a wooden fence which has been added on the north side of the general store and found the spot under the patio cover where Alex Rogin "Bust the record" on the Starfigher video game.

This area hasn't changed much since the film was made, and still looks like it could be a rural anytown USA.

Also, Soledad Canyon road goes through tunnel about a mile west of this location, that looks like the one used in the movie, but on closer inspection, it may be a different one was used.

Ty adds: I believe the tunnel in the movie was the tunnel in Griffith Park, the same one used for the Back to the Future movies. [Thanks to Ty]

The trip in the truck to the lake date was filmed on the road through Griffith Park that goes up to the observatory.

Can you help? Particularly with the tunnel? Please Update Us
