As for Argento's decline and fall, despite what a lot of folks say, I didn't mind The Card Player, which is more of a police thriller than a giallo. I don't think Giallo is as bad as folks say that it is either, though the stunt casting of Adrian Brody is ridiculous. It looks great, however. Mother of Tears is dreadful. I think that it's Argento's worst film simply because for all the style, it's so darned stupid. And I know people will fight me about this, but Argento's Dracula, while not good, does have some decent scenes and isn't quite as terrible as Mother of Tears. I want to believe that guys like DePalma, Carpenter, and Argento have at least one good film each left in them, but I'm not really sure.
