'Ghostbusters' is one of my favourite movies of all time, (it was even voted #1 in a recent funniest movies poll) but all this buzz about part 3 might just be the usual hype we've been hearing since that 'Ghostbusters In Hell' pitch by Ackroyd & Ramis. They say that the guys who adapted 'The Office' have a script, but unlike 'Top Gun 2', I think the moments gone for this one, 'Ghostbusters 2' was pretty good you need the whole cast to make this work. I'd defintely be up for another 'Ghostbusters' movie, but only if they all came back.

Who You Gonna Call?...Bill Murray's agent would be a start.

I'd love to see them all come back but you're right, if it's just one or two of them it will feel weird. I've heard of lots of buzz about this movie in the past. Is this actually getting serious?

It might be; word has it a pair of younger writers have done a script that would involve all 4 originals that Columbia's purchased. If it doesn't work out, I've also heard the upcoming Wii game will have their voices on the characters.

I'm only looking for Rick Moranis, and if he's not in it, it's not Ghostbusters. >: (

Really? I love it! To tell you the truth those guys are the ones of the 4 ghostbusters that I'd want back. And if we can't get the regular Egon back I think Bob Sagget would be the perfect fill in. HAHA.

Spooka, good hearing from you. I agree, Rick would be awesome to have back for the movie!

I heard it was actually going to be an animated version. Anyone else hear anything about that???? I think it would only work if they all came back. If it actually does happen I will be seeing it the first day it comes out.

Why don't they just let sleeping dogs lie... or whatever it's called! I didn't need Rambo 4, Rocky 6, Die Hard 4, Indiana Jones 4, Lost Boys 2 or even Star Wars 1,2 and 3 for that matter... at least not when they sucked so bad!

I bet there are a million script writers out there, sitting on some real nuggets of originality, but completely unable to get their foot in the door, because they don't know the right people! I detest present Hollywood, I mean, I really, really hate it. I hate the people, I hate the movies, I hate the atmosphere and lack of vision.

Hey Hollywood, I dare you to pizz on the brilliance that is GOONIES, and destroy its legacy with some half *** sequel, starring the Jonas brothers or Miley ****ing cyrus! Then I will personally come over and... in the words of Ice Cube and Public Enemy... BURN HOLLYWOOD BURN!

Ha ha. You know I agree too, so much of Hollywood has no creativity left. I think the reason is because it's so corporate that the little guy who has the great ideas can't get through. I also think a lot of today's creativity has gone towards the video game world. There you can let your imagination fly and you don't have to put up with big name celebs.

In principle I agree with you, but I really liked Rambo (Part IV) and Rocky Balboa. I was actually shocked at how good they were. Rocky especially, was a fitting end to the series and worked really well. I don't like that Hollywood is so geared toward remakes and sequels, but occassionally there are pleasant surprises to be found. I mean...The Godfather Part II was a sequel, and it ranks as one of the greatest films ever made. And the best movie I've seen so far this year is The Dark Knight and that's a sequel as well. On the other hand, for every sequel that works there are about 20 others that don't, so it's definitely not a question of volume.

The thing you have to remember is despite how they might like to portray themselves, the powers that be in Hollywood are not art patrons. They're a collection of nervous businessmen who are investing millions of dollars (or represent people who are investing millions of dollars) looking for safe bets. So they stick with commercially viable stories (i.e. formulas) and big-name stars that they think will provide them assurances. They like well-known properties and franchises because it feels safe to them. They are not visionaries who can put their finger to the wind and recognize cutting edge cinema and potential undiscovered talent. That typically happens by accident. Quite the contrary, they fear the risk that that entails. That's why they'd rather headline some teen idol or a rap star then some unknown actor that's been honing his/her craft for years...that's why you don't see indy films with 100 million dollar budgets. Even when they occassionally take those kind of chances, they almost always hedge their bets somehow. Either they cast a big name, get some big commercial director like Michael Bay or Brett Ratner, rewrite the script to death to make it more commercial, or force in superfluous sex scenes, vulgarity, violence, etc. in order to goose it up. That's the majority of Hollywood right there. As always, there are exceptions, but they are few and far between and usually working more on the fringe of the business.

As for Ghostbusters III...I don't know. It's not a sequel that I'm against from the get-go so that's something, I guess, considering that 9/10 make me groan at mere mention. I suppose if the script is really good, they get all 4 original stars and Reitman directs again then it could work. I'll withhold judgement for the time being.

I would like to see ghostbusters III but NOT if it's animated. That would ruin it for sure.

Spooka - That's amazing that you had a crush on him! I don't even know what to say except congrats! haha.

I too say no to the animated movie. That would be a no go for me.

A sequel that I like a lot was the new Halloween. It was I thought it was pretty scary too.

That's why they use makeup. Every movie you see an "older" actor in looks at least 10 years younger. Hey, if Stallone can do it then so can these guys... I think. [Smile]
