Ok, for those of you who seemed to have joined the game a little late and missed out on the delights of Terrors opera career!!

This is how we play, first I’ll leave a few but intriguing clues, then you can have you guesses.

If no-one guesses correctly I’ll add further clues, which I have withheld for the moment. If it’s TOO obvious to any poster then you are welcome to leave a small but intriguing clue of your own. This way you can prove you know who it is while prolonging the game.(up to you on that)
Someone will get it - and quickly i have no doubt!!

And no research!! IMDB?? Where do you think I get my answers?! ;o)

Ok, lets play……

Part of Saint's clues:
quote:
...On January 21 1994, he celebrated his 70th and last birthday with his family...[snip]
I didn't cheat, so I'm going with little I know from my knowledge of classic movie stars.

Hmmmm. Fought in WW2, born in 1924, died sometime in 1994...

I was going to say Burt Lancaster, but Jessie already mentioned him. I'm pretty sure it's not Bob Hope.

I was also leaning toward James Stewart and Robert Mitchum, but they both died just a few days apart of each other in 1997, and not '94.

I'm going to say: LEE MARVIN

For those of you who know it, you will like these CLUES! ;o)

This hard-boiled character actor didn't begin his show-business career as an actor. Rather, he
enjoyed stints as a casting assistant and senior news director at WABC in New York before turning to acting in his mid 30s.

A recipient of a Purple Heart for his service in World War 2

In 1962 he copped a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination

He earned an Emmy during the first season of his TV show (which also featured his brother George).

Oh, now I get it! It's TELLY SAVALAS, of "Kojak" fame.

SaintInLondon is correct; Telly's brother, George Savalas, also appeared on the show. On some episodes, he was billed as "Demonstenes".

Not only was he a noted poker player, he was a high-roller gambler and did some promotional videos for a New Jersey gambling casino.

I knew ValleyCat would be on the a case, sooner or later.

I thought the 'Hard Boiled' and 'Copped' where big clues to add to the rest.

Heres the few clues that where left from IMDB.

Birth name
Aristotelis Savalas

Son of Greek immigrants.

Met his first wife (Katherine) at a Greek dance while attending Columbia University.

The character design for villain Lex Luther in the 1996 animated Superman series was loosely based on Savalas.

Reason why he sucked on a lolly-pop during "Kojak", was to help him to quit smoking.
