Has anyone else heard about this story?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/2050902/Bill-Murray's-wife-files-for-divorce.html

Isn't it sad when you hear these crazy stories?

I always loved Bill Murray in Meatballs and back when he did SNL.

There's her side of the story, his side of the story and in the middle probably lies the truth.

Right now she's going to say anything to try and get as much money from him that she can.

Ohhh, you see it was just a "love tap"

"The latest altercation occurred in November 2007... when the Defendant hit her in the face and then told her she was ‘lucky he didn’t kill her’"

I mean, he didn't kill her did he?

Yes, I am just kidding... [Big Grin]

Nobody should abuse anyone. Divorces should be kept private. It's all about the money now...

I agree with you on that! However, if it involves a Hollywood star, the divorce proceedings become public fodder for the news media. (Recent example: the Alec Baldwin/Kim Basinger custody battle.)

StevenHW,

You are right about that! It turns into a circus... What a bunch of crap. Honestly, who cares? It's bad enough THEY have to go through it. It's like people think that just because you're a celebrity you have no feelings or don't deserve your privacy. Why feed the frenzy?

I have to agree with everyone here, the truth's probably somewhere in between. In today's Hollywood, 11 years in marriage is pretty good regardless of how far south it may have gone.

It's amazing how much sadness the Greatest Generation, as I term the SNL/SCTV gang, had to live through (as, of course, is the case for so many comedians in general). Murray himself had to strain to get attention with so many siblings, Gilda and Candy lost their fathers far too early, Chevy's stepfather and mother kicked him around, and Belushi always seemed to have lingering sadness underneath the wildness that no one can really explain to this day. Couple that with the general disappointment that the studios never gave them the chance to be serious that they all wanted and forced them to be child-men in just about everything (not that we have THAT much to complain about, but still...), and it's understandable if the survivors still simmer from time to time over what could have been. But they can take comfort if by chance they read this to know we're grateful they managed to use their suppressed feeling for the betterment of mankind and making our lives happier--as comedy inherently should be.
