Jeff Kanew, who directed this film, also directed the campy “Revenge of the Nerds” in 1984. A year earlier, he directed Kirk Douglas in the underrated caper “Eddie Macon’s Run.”

This film was the final teaming of Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas.

Red Hot Chili Peppers played themselves in the movie. They were big on the local scene but wouldn't crack the big time until the album "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" in 1991.
