The young woman 'Doris', played by Lelise Folse, who tells Garrett Breedlove "you're drunk, and much older than us" is dubbed. The credits show that the voice of Doris was done by actress
Mary Kay Place, who was terrific in the '80s movies Private Benjamin and the Big Chill and was also known for her part as Loretta Haggers in the '70s TV show "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman". I recognized her voice the first time I saw Terms of Endearment and have always wondered why the girl playing the part required a voice-over. Mary Kay Place has a very authentic sounding Southern accent courtesy of being from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
