Terms of Endearment began location filming in Lincoln, Nebraska in early 1983.

The "Terms of Endearment" homes are located on Locke Lane near Kirby Drive. Aurora's house still looks almost identical to how it appeared in 1983. Next door, Garrett Breedlove's house has undergone significant renovation including movement of the fireplace, window changes, and adding a new brick front facade. [Thanks to Mark]

The campus scenes were originally scheduled to be shot on location at the Nebraska Wesleyan University. University officials were very concerned, however, at some of the language contained in the script. As a result, the campus scenes were ultimately filmed at the downtown campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. [Thanks to Chris Coleman]

"Flap and Emma's" house has since been demolished and replaced with apartment buildings.

The house that her mother lived in is located in River Oaks in Houston, TX but has since been remodeled. [Thanks to Robert/Dani Krejci]

The NYC scene where Pasty and Emma fight was actually shot at the ritzy "River Cafe" in Brooklyn Heights, facing the former World Trade Center [Thanks to Mike G]

In the scene where Emma and Patsy are discussing how weird everyone treats her and how she wants people to just say she has cancer and be done with it, they are walking through Battery Park, and you can see the NYC skyline in the background. The Twin Towers are there, with a thick layer of fog clouding the tops of them. It just seems so foreboding now... [Thanks to Dom Anderson]
