The Mean Season Trivia

In the newsroom scenes of the Miami Journal, real reporters (for the Miami Herald) were used as extras to keep the setting authentic.

Some of the reporters also acted as consultants. Kurt Russell himself shadowed famed Miami Herald reporter Edna Buchanan.

No less than three Richard’s appeared in this film: Richard Jordan as the killer, and both Richard Masur and Richard Bradford as Russell’s co-workers.

This film grossed $4.3 million at the box office in the U.S.
