Alternate Versions

Sometimes, there will be several versions of a movie floating about on cable, tv or video etc. Other times, a Director may release a special cut of the movie on Blu-ray or DVD.

The following versions of Lifeforce are apparently real. If you disagree or have additional info, please update us.

The VHS release of this film is a whopping 15 minutes shorter than the DVD release, pieces of dialogue which aid the story are completely cut and some scenes are noticably shorter in the video version. The cuts between the formats applies to both the US and UK releases.

The DVD also contains the full Henry Mancini score in place of the occasional Michael Kamen music cues placed at the last minute for the U.S. theatrical release, which was the version used for the US & UK VHS releases.

It's worth spending the extra on to get the DVD version for 3 reasons: It's widescreen, has full 5.1 audio, and is uncut. There were rumors of a planned 2 disc special edition DVD version, but it so far has come to nothing.
