The movie was filmed on location in the towns of Inverness, Point Reyes Station, Bodega Bay and Tomales Bay, tiny coastal towns in Marin County, about 40 miles north of San Francisco.

The old Tides dock and restaurant on Bodega Bay were used for scenes where the fishing boats docked.

The gas station and the church sign are located in Downtown Inverness, California.

The actual church itself is located in Altadena, California. [Thanks to Greg Martin]
