Sudden Impact Locations
Under their watchful eye, the following special places were used for filming "Sudden Impact":
San Francisco and Santa Cruz, N. California were used.
The scenes at the Boardwalk and under the bandstand were filmed at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park.
The scene at the sidewalk cafe where Harry has a drink with Sondra Locke was filmed at the Cooper House, on Pacific Ave. in downtown Santa Cruz. The Cooper House was demolished after being heavily damaged in the 1989 earthquake.
The scene where Harry takes target practice and Horace is introduced was filmed at the George Washington Picnic Area on Branciforte Drive.
The motel where Harry stayed was the La Bahia, on Beach St. across from the Boardwalk.
Although the movie shows Harry walking up the steps to the San Francisco Hall of Justice, the courtroom scene was shot in the Santa Cruz County courthouse on Ocean St., inside Superior Court Dept. 3 (now numbered as Dept. 5). The elevator scene was inside the adjacent County Government Center. [Thanks to V. Brenner for the above locations]

The Sudden Impact Tour of Santa Cruz
LX is our radical new locations feature that we've been beavering away on.. For years!
Each location will have it's own page with then/now pictures, maps, StreetView, discovery story and the most detailed explanations on how the location was used. Most importantly, the locations will have a status that shows whether they are verified correct and by whom. We are working with the actual locations managers or other crew where possible. The whole thing will be very interactive and you will, of course, be able to update everything.
