Ghost Writer Locations
Under their watchful eye, the following special places were used for filming "Ghost Writer":
These scenes were actually shot at The Movieland Wax Museum, located in Buena Park, S. California. Google Map
Largely because Roman Polanski could not set foot in the United States, filming took place in Germany made to look like Massachusetts.
Some part of the movie was filmed on the German island of Sylt as a stand in for Martha's Vineyard. To look more American it was dressed up with an attention to details: American style cars, US signage, added telephone poles (phone and energy lines run mostly underground in Germany), wooden houses, American extras, etc.
Lang's beach house set was built entirely in a studio. The Cape Cod views through the windows were the result of green screens. [thanks to jfloyd]
Can you help? Do you know any of the S. California (or any other) filming locations used for Ghost Writer? Please Update Us

The Movieland Wax Museum
LX is our radical new locations feature that we've been beavering away on.. For years!
Each location will have it's own page with then/now pictures, maps, StreetView, discovery story and the most detailed explanations on how the location was used. Most importantly, the locations will have a status that shows whether they are verified correct and by whom. We are working with the actual locations managers or other crew where possible. The whole thing will be very interactive and you will, of course, be able to update everything.
