The Burbs Locations
Under their watchful eye, the following special places were used for filming "The Burbs":
These scenes were actually shot at Universal Studios Lot, located in Los Angeles, S. California. Google Map
Mayfield Place was not shot in a real street. The backlot at Universal Studios in California was used. The "neighborhood" is called Colonial Street, and houses can be moved in and out and around to create the needed look of a certain street. On the lot, Colonial Street is not a cul-de-sac, so some modifications had to be made to put in the circle drive at the end of the street. Additionally, the Klopeks' house had to be wheeled in and get major renovations to the grounds around the house. [Thanks to Chris Kirk of The Klopeks Back Yard --see links]
As well as being reused for Desperate Housewives (see above), the houses are well known from movies and television, such as The Munsters (Ricky Butler's house); The Peterson house was in Dragnet (which also starred Tom Hanks)and Murder She Wrote; The Klopek's house was seen in Back To The Future Pt 2; and the Rumsfeld house is in Casper: A Spirited Beginning. (For this excellent information, many thanks to The Burbs Neighborhood - see links)

LX is our radical new locations feature that we've been beavering away on.. For years!
Each location will have it's own page with then/now pictures, maps, StreetView, discovery story and the most detailed explanations on how the location was used. Most importantly, the locations will have a status that shows whether they are verified correct and by whom. We are working with the actual locations managers or other crew where possible. The whole thing will be very interactive and you will, of course, be able to update everything.
