Breakin' Filming Locations:

Breakin' was filmed at authentic Los Angeles locations. Venice Beach was used for some scenes at the beach.

The Radiotron (the club used in those classic dance battle sequences from both movies) is located adjacent to Macarthur Park in downtown Los Angeles. We don't know the exact address (or if the club still exists), but it was located on Parkview Street, between 7th and 8th Streets. You can't miss it. Will someone please confirm?

Turbo himself (no kidding folks!) wrote in to give us the lowdown on the rest of the locations!

The house we used was on Maple Street, downtown, right by the Staples Center.

The dance studio where I interrupted the class was a studio right next to Hollywood Center Studio in Hollywood near Las Palmas and Santa Monica.

The studio we used when we were practicing for the show was the Debbie Reynolds Studio in in North Hollywood at 6514 Lankershim Blvd Ca.91606. It is still there and still being used.

The store that we worked in and where I did the broom dance is on Melrose Ave, 3 blocks east of the 101 FWY. It is now a furniture store. (In fact, it's at the corner of Melrose Ave and N Heliotrope Dr. -Thanks to West)

Special K (Lucinda Dickey) also wrote in to say: The Location used for my character's house in the movie belonged to one of the producers. It was located in Culver City.

The Franco's dance academy that appears in the movie was an actual dance studio that was hired in down town L.A. I remember it because we had to wait to see if we could use it.

The place where Kelly goes to audition for a dance part wearing the blonde wig was at the Palace, now called the Avalon at 1735 Vine Street in Hollywood. [Thanks to Scott Tarasco]

You can see her walk out the door. Her and the character Adam then walk out, get in her car and turn onto Hollywood Blvd.

The scene when Turbo, Ozone and Kelly were dancing inside a garage was filmed at a private residents house on Maria Pl. Cerritos, CA -off the cross streets of 183rd. and bloomfield. [Thanks to Duane Johnson]

The part where Turbo was dancing with the broomstick is on the corner of Heliotrope Dr and Melrose. Can't miss it. [Thanks to Aaron Albelo]

I did some studying the broom dance where turbo does his dance at and where they worked out of is in front of the tattoo shop across the street not the furniture store. [Thanks to Jeff]

The location where Turbo is teaching the kids to Breakdance, right outside the garage doors is on E 22nd st at the junction with Trinity St. [Thanks to Stephen Dobson]

The restaurant where Kelly works is still there. It can be found at 9609 Venice Blvd; The entrance to Franco's dance studio is 1041 N McCadden Place, LA [Thanks to Stephen Dobson]

Can you help? Particularly with the mansion (party scene)? Please Update Us

LX Preview

LX is our radical new locations feature that we've been beavering away on.. For years!

Each location will have it's own page with then/now pictures, maps, StreetView, discovery story and the most detailed explanations on how the location was used. Most importantly, the locations will have a status that shows whether they are verified correct and by whom. We are working with the actual locations managers or other crew where possible. The whole thing will be very interactive and you will, of course, be able to update everything.
