Sounds a lot like Knight Rider to me Well, anyway i watched the 2-part pilot and it was typical but entertaining fast-paced early 90s tv-stuff. The show was created by the legendary Stephen J. Cannell and stars Michael Dudikoff, Allison Hossack and James Tolkan.
The show ran only for one season (22 episodes)
More info from Wikipedia: Cobra was originally called Viper. However, Chrysler Corp. sued Stephen J. Cannell for trademark infringement, and also because Chrysler was already working with CBS on a series called Viper that was to feature a brand new Dodge Viper concept car.
Beautiful British Columbia locations, cool score composed by the legendary Canadian band Saga plus Gerald O'Brien and while i´m not rushing to get the dvd set it would be awesome to see all the episodes.
